Since 1978, Famous 4th Street Cookies has been making our famous Chocolate Chip Cookies with Hershey’s Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips. Have you tried them? They are amazing! Milton S. Hershey founded the Lancaster Caramel Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the 1880s. He attended the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, and saw a German-made chocolate-processing machinery. Hershey then decided to go into the chocolate business. In 1900 he sold the Lancaster Caramel Company and began the manufacture milk chocolate bars. In 1903, Milton Hershey began work on a new factory in Derry Township, Pennsylvania.
